It’s not because of ineinrta, it’s because of infrastructure and capital investment. Inertia. Think how more efficient a library would become. It could be instantly distributed to anywhere the BBC (for example) wanted it to be. And they could dictate formats overnight.Maybe the BBC is too conservative (perish the thought!) or maybe no-one wants to be the one to launch a big IT project (how is your NHS electronic care records system coming along?). Funny thing is that I actually don’t dislike FCP X. My main problem is that Apple is masquerading it as a “Pro” product and – as in the cases mentioned above – it isn’t. Yet. I (as someone who hasn’t even used it) agree. Apple should have made FCP 7 generally available for another 12 months. As it is, people feel forced to make a decision on what is here right now.I will probably get it for home when I get a new iMac (my FCE projects are generally self-contained and, once finished, I like to ditch the original footage to save space) but I wouldn’t think of transitioning at work for at least another year.
