Continue reading »]]> Canon always gives us surprises with its great and creative camera or camcorder products. Among all the products of Canon, the EOS C300 seems to be the most attractive one. The C300 can help us record vivid high-definition videos in MXF format which is often used in Sony, Panasonic and canon high-end cameras and camcorders. The MXF format is good to record videos, but MXF files are not easy to use because many editing software and devices can’t read MXF format videos, such as Apple’s Final Cut Pro 6 or 7 or above. So how to solve the problem and make Final Cut Pro support Canon C300 MXF videos for editing?

The Final Cut Pro (FCP) is announced to support many video formats including AVCHD (MTS/M2TS), MOV, MP4, etc. However, the MXF video format is not included, as a result of which, we can not directly load Canon C300 MXF recordings to FCP 6/7 for editing. Since the Final Cut Pro does not read C300 files natively, the best solution is to encode MXF files to ProRes 422 for Final Cut Pro.

Step 1. Connect Canon C300 to Mac with USB cable, and copy the files to hard drive. Download and Instal Pavtube MXF to Final Cut Pro Converter.

Run the top Mac MXF Converter for Final Cut Pro, and click the “Add” button to load your HD MXF videos.

Step 2. Click the format bar, and move mouse cursor to “Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)” as output format.

Tips: You can click properties to adjust the audio stream ID if you find the C300 MXF no sound.

Besides, you can click settings button to adjust the resolution, bitrate, etc. Just customize the parameters to meet your need.

Step 3. Click “Convert” button to start encode Canon C300 MXF files to ProRes for Final Cut Pro under Mac OS.

Some more helpful features of the app:

1. Settings- click to set video resolution(1920×1080/1440×1080/1280×720/720×480), bitrate(from 1Mbps to 20Mbps), frame rate (24p/30p)

2. Editor (next to “Add” icon)- click to set deinterlace, denoise, mute, volume up, trim, crop, etc.
